COURSE DESCRIPTION |

The course focuses on the application of the concepts learned on the nursing theories and the physiology of alteration in health, the occurrence of the physiologic changes and responses of the body that brings about the signs and symptoms as well as the application of appropriate nursing inventions in the care of clients in the clinical setting. |

GENERAL OBJECTIVE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE |

At the end of the course, the graduate student will be able to conceptualize the physiologic mechanisms brought about by the disease condition on the human body and formulate and implement appropriate nursing management in actual clinical setting. Specifically, the graduate student is expected to undergo clinical experience in the hospital setting, choose a medical or surgical patient to manage and be able to: 1. Utilize the nursing process in the management of the patient in the hospital setting. 2. Identify the predisposing factors to the development of the altered biologic processes of the patient’s disease condition. 3. Make a comprehensive explanation of the dynamics of the altered health state or the development of the disease process. 4. Identify the signs and symptoms of the disease condition and their corresponding medical and nursing management. 5. Describe the psychological and emotional responses of the client to the health condition. 6. Categorize the complications of the disease condition. 7. Apply appropriate nursing theories to best provide a holistic nursing approach. 8. Submit a clinical paper. |
